About us.
A little bit of History
St Leonards Bowls Club was founded on 31 May 1906 and one one of the inaugural clubs of the English Bowls Association EBA. This privileged status is reflected in the anchor which forms the central element of the club badge. As we were formed in 1906, in 2026 we celebrate our 120 anniversary!
The club house and land was initially an office for the Hastings tramway, but when that stopped functioning the building and green was donated to the club by the council.
At one time the club was run by the Bo Peep Pub just over the road. The Club alumni include Knights of the realm, doctors, Army Majors, MPs and Mayors. We might be slightly more modest at the moment but the current members are keen to get the club back to former glories!
The Mermaid League
The club play friendly games against a number of other local clubs and we are also active members of the Mermaid League, sponsored by the Mermaid pub in Rye.
As well as club games there are plenty of internal club knockout competitions for members to get involved in.
